The Potomac Patriots junior program, proud members of the USPHL, would like to announce changes to the coaching staff for the 2020-21 season.

Jonathan Sucese will be transitioning away from his role as Elite head coach while continuing to serve as the program’s strength coach. Jonathan will remain involved as member of the Patriots hockey staff as an assistant coach for the both the Premier and Elite teams.

The Patriots are pleased to announce the hiring of Hagen Nemzek as Elite head coach for the 2020-21 season. Hagen brings extensive experience as a coach, player, and skill development specialist to the juniors coaching staff. His new responsibilities will also include the position of House/Rec Lead within the Patriots youth hockey program. The Virginia native played professionally in the Sweden Division 2 league with Akers/Strangnas HC and also served as an assistant coach with the team during the 2017-18 season. Hagen most recently served as the Director of Coaching and Player Development at the Ion training center.

“Hagen will bring a wealth of hockey experience to the Patriots,” said returning Premier head coach Zach Vit. “His knowledge of skill development and coaching experience at both the professional and youth levels will serve our players and organization extremely well. We’re all very excited about the addition of Hagen to our coaching staff.”

“Hagen brings a lot of experience and passion to the Patriots Junior program,” said Jonathan Sucese of the staff changes. “He is an absolute asset for our players with a deep knowledge of skill development and a sense of calling for player development.  He’s helped countless high level players reach their full potential and I am very excited to not only work alongside him, but also to learn from him as well.”

Please join us in welcoming Hagen to the Patriots family!
