PATRIOTS HOCKEY TO EXPAND - ADDING GIRLS PROGRAMS FOR 2020-2021
Growing the game, and looking to the future
Dale City, Virginia; February 2020 — The Potomac Patriots are excited to announce the expansion of their hockey program for the upcoming season. When the 2020/2021 season kicks-off the Patriots are hopeful to field multiple girl’s programs across four age groups (U10/U12 “Wales”, U12, U14 and U16 in the CBHL).
RJ Zeigler, Potomac Patriots Executive Vice President and General Manager announced this week that the program will expand their program’s offerings for the upcoming season with the addition of a full-time girl’s program – the Lady Patriots. After a successful 2019/2020 season where the Patriots paved the way with a U10/U12 “Wales” team in the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League (CBHL). The Patriots worked with the CBHL and were the first to commit to this developmental league; following in their footsteps, teams from Montgomery, Howard, Navy, Baltimore, and Chevy Chase all were formed. These teams played a ~12 game schedule with numerous exhibitions and some jamborees as well.
None of this success and growth we are experiencing could have been possible without the tireless efforts of Coach Jay Greeley. Coach Greeley has led the Patriots Mite program for the last few years, and as his daughters have grown, Jay saw the need for girl’s hockey seized these opportunities. Going forward Coach Greeley will be the Lady Patriots Lead and continue to grow the program and look for new and exciting opportunities.
