The U10 White team traveled to Philly this past weekend to participate in the Philly Puck Drop Hockey Tournament. The team was very competitive and got the season off to a strong start.
The Pats took on the Cape Fear Warriors, an A team, for their second game of the tournament. They found themselves down 1-0 before James Burns scored top shelf for the team's first goal of the season. They faced further adversity when the Warriors scored to take a 2-1 lead. William Vaughn and Eli Marm helped the team roar back as they scored off of their own rebounds. The Pats won the game 3-2.
U10 White fought hard against the Lancaster Firebirds but found themselves down 3-1 after the first period. Veteran defenseman LaMontagne fired a blast from the point to score. Declan Henry chipped the puck between the goalie's legs shortly thereafter to tie the game. Unfortunately, they lost the game 4-3. However, they displayed the type of determination and grit rarely seen at the beginning of a season.
The goalie tandem of Colin LeBlanc and Xander Tullo proved to be formidable against teams that are assigned to higher divisions within their leagues.
The future looks bright for the U10 White team!
