Congratulations to Michael Shelley Jr. on being selected to attend the Southeastern District 14U Player Development Camp!

Michael earned his spot at the Southeastern District Camp following his performance at the PVAHA Development Camp back in April. He will be among the top 60 hockey players, including only 8 goalies, born in 2005 for the Southeast region that will be participating in the camp. The Southeastern District 14U Development Camp takes place July 21-27 at Kent State University.

Last season Michael played for the Potomac Patriots U14 AA team. This upcoming season, he will be playing with the Patriots U16HP team that competes in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL).

U16HP Head Coach Mat Culcasi had great things to say when asked about Michael joining his team for 2019-20, “He is a very reliable goalie who is definitely consistent in both his effort and performance. Michael’s willing to do what is necessary to advance his play to the next level, his focus and preparation are impressive. We’re very excited to have Michael in our program and to see him compete in the USPHL this season.”

When asked about Michael’s work ethic and attitude, Patriots Strength and Conditioning Coach Jonathan Sucese sang Michaels praises. “Michael is a quiet hard worker. He is always paying attention to the little details and his movement in the weight room is far advanced for his age. Michael is a very humble athlete who is open to criticism despite the success he has already experienced.”

Congratulations Michael, and good luck at development camp!
